Nosto Alternatives for Shopify Fashion Brands: 4 Tools Compared

Four Nosto alternatives for Shopify fashion brands, sorted by which part of Nosto you are replacing, with pricing models checked on vendor pages in November 2026.

Mehul Agarwal, Founder & CEO

Quick answer: The right Nosto alternative depends on which part of Nosto you are replacing. For cart upsells, bundles and smart search priced by orders, look at Rebuy. For low-cost recommendations and bundles on a smaller store, LimeSpot. For a free baseline of search, filters and product recommendations, Shopify Search & Discovery. And if what fashion shoppers need is help putting outfits together, Elara for Commerce adds an AI stylist that builds complete looks with full-outfit try-on. Every price and feature below comes from each vendor’s own Shopify App Store listing or pricing page, as of November 2026.

Nosto is one of the longest-running personalization platforms on Shopify; its App Store listing shows a launch date of August 2014. Fashion brands start looking at alternatives for three reasons: its pricing is quote-based, mid-size stores often use only part of the suite, and recommendations based on browsing behaviour do not always help a shopper who is trying to build an outfit. This guide sets out Nosto’s baseline, sorts the alternatives by the job they replace, and gives a fair view of each.

What Nosto does well

According to Nosto’s Shopify App Store listing (as of November 2026), it covers five areas in one platform:

  • Site search: AI search for product discovery.

  • Personalization: recommendations and experiences tailored to each shopper.

  • Merchandising: control over product rankings across search, collections and recommendations.

  • Content: personalized content and user-generated content.

  • Business intelligence: analysis of shopper behaviour.

The listing says the app is free to install but “a Nosto account is required and is not free of charge”, so pricing comes from Nosto’s sales team. It integrates with Klaviyo, Yotpo, Attentive, LoyaltyLion, Tapcart and Shopify Flow, supports Shopify Plus, and shows a 4.8 rating from 62 reviews. For brands that want search, recommendations and merchandising from one vendor, that breadth is the main reason to stay. Our feature-level view is in the Elara vs Nosto comparison.

Which part of Nosto are you replacing?

Most brands do not replace Nosto with one tool; they replace the part they use, and the alternatives below each cover a different part.

  • Search and collection merchandising: Rebuy’s Search and Collections package or Shopify Search & Discovery.

  • Product recommendations and bundles: Rebuy, LimeSpot or Search & Discovery’s built-in recommendations.

  • Cart, checkout and post-purchase offers: Rebuy or LimeSpot.

  • Helping shoppers decide what to wear: Elara for Commerce, which works alongside whichever search and recommendation tools you keep.

Pricing units differ too. Nosto is quoted, Rebuy is priced by monthly orders, LimeSpot by orders or revenue, Search & Discovery is free, and Elara by styling queries. Model your peak month, not an average one.

4 Nosto alternatives for Shopify fashion brands

1. Rebuy: cart, bundles and smart search, priced by orders

Rebuy is the closest like-for-like swap for the merchandising side of Nosto. According to Rebuy’s pricing page (as of November 2026), you build a plan from four packages, each priced by monthly Shopify orders and starting from $25 a month for one package: Cart and Merchandising (Smart Cart, merchandising widgets, dynamic bundles, Bundle Builder), Checkout and Post-Purchase, Search and Collections (Smart Search, Smart Collections), and Flows and A/B Testing. Combining packages earns 10% to 30% off, Platform One bundles everything at a custom price, and packages come with a 14-day free trial.

One thing to check: when we looked on 3 November 2026, Rebuy’s Shopify App Store page said the app was “not currently available on the Shopify App Store”, while Rebuy’s own site still offered sign-up. Confirm the install route with Rebuy before you plan a migration.

Best for: brands that want to lift average order value at the cart and checkout and replace Nosto’s search at the same time. Consider: it recommends products and bundles rather than styling outfits in conversation. Our Elara vs Rebuy comparison covers it from the other side.

2. LimeSpot: low-cost recommendations and bundles

LimeSpot is the budget option for recommendations. Its Shopify App Store listing (as of November 2026), now titled LimeSpot AI Bundles & Upsells, shows a 4.6 rating from 505 reviews. It places upsell and cross-sell recommendations from the homepage to checkout, builds frequently-bought-together bundles with AI, and includes A/B testing and analytics. Pricing is free for up to 10 orders a month; Turbo starts at $9.99 a month and rises with orders (up to 250 orders is $19.99); Max starts at $50 a month and rises with revenue (up to $50,000 in revenue is $150 a month) and adds personalization. Paid plans have a 15-day trial, and the listing marks Free and Turbo as not compatible with Shopify Plus.

Best for: smaller and mid-size stores that mainly used Nosto for recommendation widgets and want a predictable bill. Consider: it does not replace Nosto’s search or content features, and Plus stores need the Max plan.

3. Shopify Search & Discovery: the free baseline

Before paying for anything, test what Shopify gives you. Its Search & Discovery app (as of November 2026) is free and adds synonyms, product boosts, custom filters and sorting, AI search, and related and complementary product recommendations on product pages, with click-through and conversion reports. The listing shows a 2.6 rating from 512 reviews, and several recent reviews from July to October 2026 describe search suddenly returning unrelated products, so test it on your own catalogue before you rely on it.

Best for: brands that want filters and basic recommendations at no cost, or a fallback while they evaluate paid tools. Consider: there is no content personalization or deep merchandising control, and complementary products depend on how well your catalogue is set up.

4. Elara for Commerce: an AI stylist for outfit decisions

Elara for Commerce is our product, so weigh this section with that in mind. It is not a replacement for Nosto’s search or merchandising. It covers a different moment: a shopper who knows the occasion but not the outfit. Shoppers describe what they need in natural language (an event, a budget, a style), and Elara builds complete looks from your catalogue, then lets them try the full outfit on virtually. The catalogue syncs automatically, revenue is attributed per styling conversation, the merchant portal shows which occasions shoppers are dressing for, and it integrates with Klaviyo and Ometria. According to Elara’s pricing page (as of November 2026), plans start at $399 a month, with higher tiers at $1,199 and $3,299, and every plan comes with a 30-day free trial.

Best for: fashion brands whose shoppers buy outfits and occasions rather than single products. Consider: keep a search and recommendation tool alongside it; Elara is the styling layer, not your site search.

Which alternative fits which brand

  • Replace Nosto’s search, cart and bundles with one order-priced tool: Rebuy.

  • Recommendation widgets on a tight budget: LimeSpot.

  • Filters and basic recommendations at no cost: Shopify Search & Discovery.

  • Shoppers struggle to put outfits together: Elara for Commerce, alongside one of the above.

  • You use search, recommendations, content and business intelligence together: staying on Nosto may be the right call.

How to switch without losing revenue

  • Run a holdout. Show the new setup to most visitors and keep a random group on the old one; compare conversion rate, average order value and revenue per visitor. Our guide to measuring AI shopping assistant results explains how to size the test.

  • Rebuild merchandising rules first. Pinned products, boosts and hidden items in Nosto do not move automatically. List them before you switch.

  • Check your product data. Every recommendation tool matches on what your catalogue says. Missing colour, fabric or occasion details weaken all of them; Elara Spotlight can help fill those attributes.

  • Avoid peak weeks. Do not switch between Black Friday and the January sales.

Industry benchmarks show the upside of guided shopping but are not guarantees: Neuwark (2026) reports about 4x higher conversion with AI shopping assistants, and Rep AI (2025) reports 25% higher average order value. Treat both as industry benchmarks, not Elara results; your own holdout is the number that matters.
