UK Christmas 2026 Shipping Cutoffs: Royal Mail, DPD, Evri and Parcelforce Dates for Shopify Fashion Brands
The official 2026 UK last posting dates, and a simple method to turn them into order-by dates your Shopify fashion store can actually keep.

Last updated: October 2026
Quick answer: Royal Mail's last recommended posting dates for Christmas 2026 are Friday 18 December for 2nd Class, Saturday 19 December for Tracked 48, Monday 21 December for 1st Class and Tracked 24, and Wednesday 23 December for Special Delivery Guaranteed. DPD and Evri's standard services close on 19 December and their next-day services on 21 December, according to the Post Office. Your own "order by" date has to come earlier than the carrier's: subtract your processing time and a buffer from each carrier date, publish the result on your site by mid-November, and switch to gift cards and Special Delivery once the standard cutoffs pass.
For UK fashion brands on Shopify, the last two weeks before Christmas decide whether peak season ends in five-star reviews or "where is my order?" tickets. Christmas Day 2026 falls on a Friday, and Boxing Day is moved to Monday 28 December as a bank holiday in England and Wales, according to GOV.UK. That leaves a tight run of working days from mid-December, with weekend posting dates that only some sellers can use.
This guide collects the official 2026 UK dates from Royal Mail and the Post Office, then shows how to turn them into cutoffs you can actually promise. If you also ship to the US, pair it with our US holiday shipping cutoffs playbook.
The 2026 UK last posting dates

Royal Mail published these inland dates on its Christmas 2026 page. It notes that "last posting dates are correct at the time of publishing and are subject to change," so check again in early December.
Royal Mail
2nd Class and 2nd Class Signed For: Friday 18 December
Royal Mail Tracked 48: Saturday 19 December
1st Class, 1st Class Signed For and Royal Mail Tracked 24: Monday 21 December
Special Delivery Guaranteed: Wednesday 23 December
Royal Mail also lists Saturday 19 December as the last day to post Tracked Returns 48 for the item to reach the sender before Christmas, which matters if you offer pre-Christmas exchanges.
Parcelforce Worldwide
express48 and express48large: Monday 21 December
express10, expressAM and express24: Tuesday 22 December
DPD and Evri
The Post Office lists these dates for parcels sent through its branches:
DPD 2 Day: Saturday 19 December
DPD Next Day: Monday 21 December
DPD Gold: Wednesday 23 December
Evri Standard Tracked: Saturday 19 December
Evri Next Day Tracked: Monday 21 December
The Post Office adds that DPD and Evri say remote postcodes should be sent earlier, and that Evri's dates are subject to change. If you have a direct business account with DPD, Evri or another courier, use the dates in your account terms, which can differ from counter services.
Turn carrier dates into your own order cutoffs

A carrier's last posting date is the day the parcel must be handed over, not the day the customer can order. Your customer-facing cutoff needs to work backwards from it:
Your "order by" date = carrier last posting date, minus your processing time, minus a buffer.
Processing time is the number of business days between an order landing and the parcel leaving your warehouse. In peak weeks this is usually longer than normal, so use your realistic December figure, not your September one.
Buffer covers the things you cannot control: a late collection, a returns spike, a staff sick day. One business day is a sensible minimum for most small teams.
Collection days matter. The Saturday dates for Tracked 48, DPD 2 Day and Evri Standard only help if your carrier collects or you can drop off on a Saturday. If not, your effective date for those services is Friday 18 December.
A worked example: a brand that ships Tracked 48, takes two business days to pick and pack in December, and adds a one-day buffer, with no Saturday collection. Its effective handover date is Friday 18 December. Two business days of processing plus one day of buffer takes the customer cutoff back to Tuesday 15 December. Publishing "order by 15 December for Christmas delivery" is then a promise the brand can keep.
Run this calculation for each service you offer, then publish the dates as a simple ladder on your site: standard, express and guaranteed, each with its own "order by" date.
Show delivery dates in Shopify checkout

Shopify can show an estimated delivery range at checkout, which does more than a banner because customers see it at the moment they decide. According to Shopify's Help Center, this needs:
Shipping profiles, not legacy shipping settings.
A fulfillment time, set in Settings, Shipping and delivery, Estimated delivery dates, in business days or weeks.
Eligible rates. In the UK, that means flat rates with a transit time set. Shopify lists the UK among the countries where flat rates with transit time are supported.
Know the limits before you rely on it:
Shopify uses a fixed business-day cutoff: "The business day cutoff time is 12 pm in the local timezone of the shipping origin." Orders after noon count from the next business day.
Weekends and holidays are included in the delivery range but do not count toward fulfillment time.
Dates do not work with shipping rates provided by third-party apps, and if checkout shows a mix of eligible and ineligible rates, no dates are shown.
Dates only appear when the product's inventory is above zero.
Custom order confirmation emails need the consolidated_estimated_delivery_time Liquid variable added before they show the estimate.
If your December fulfillment time is longer than usual, update it in Shopify before the peak, so the checkout estimate matches what you are publishing elsewhere.
Communicate the cutoffs where shoppers decide
Shoppers buying gifts need the date before they fall for a product, not after. Put your cutoff ladder in four places:
A site-wide announcement bar from mid-November, updated as each date passes.
Product pages, close to the add-to-cart button, especially on gift-led items like knitwear, accessories and partywear.
Cart and checkout, using Shopify's delivery dates where your rates support them.
Email and SMS, with a send scheduled a few days before each cutoff. Our guide to BFCM 2026 email deliverability covers the sender rules to meet before you scale up sends.
Keep the wording precise. "Order by Tuesday 15 December for Christmas delivery with Tracked 48" is clearer than "order soon for Christmas," and it gives customer service a single date to point to.
After the standard cutoffs pass
The last week is still sellable if you change what you are selling:
Push the faster services. Special Delivery Guaranteed runs until Wednesday 23 December and Parcelforce express24 until Tuesday 22 December. If your processing allows same-day dispatch, offer them as paid upgrades and show the cost clearly.
Switch to gift cards. Digital gift cards need no shipping at all. Our playbook on selling gift cards after the shipping cutoff covers setup.
Offer collection. If you have a store or studio, local pickup removes the carrier from the equation entirely.
Set expectations for orders that miss the cutoff. A clear "will arrive after Christmas" message at checkout prevents most of the complaints that follow.
International orders
Royal Mail's Christmas page does not give one table of international dates. It sends senders to its country guides for delivery aims, gives US-bound items their own page, and recommends posting international items as early as possible. For a brand with international customers, the practical approach is to set international cutoffs well ahead of UK ones, check the specific country guide for your biggest markets, and say on your site that international delivery before Christmas is not guaranteed after a certain date.
FAQ
What is the last posting date for Christmas 2026 in the UK?
For Royal Mail, it is Friday 18 December for 2nd Class, Saturday 19 December for Tracked 48, Monday 21 December for 1st Class and Tracked 24, and Wednesday 23 December for Special Delivery Guaranteed. Royal Mail says the dates are subject to change.
What are the DPD and Evri Christmas 2026 cutoffs?
According to the Post Office, DPD 2 Day and Evri Standard Tracked close on Saturday 19 December, DPD Next Day and Evri Next Day Tracked on Monday 21 December, and DPD Gold on Wednesday 23 December. Remote postcodes should be sent earlier.
How early should my Shopify store's Christmas order cutoff be?
Work backwards from the carrier date: subtract your peak-season processing time and at least one business day of buffer. If your carrier does not collect on Saturdays, use the Friday before any Saturday posting date as your handover day.
Can Shopify show Christmas delivery dates at checkout?
Yes, if you use shipping profiles, set a fulfillment time and use eligible rates, which in the UK means flat rates with a transit time. Dates do not show for rates from third-party apps, and Shopify counts orders after 12pm as the next business day.
Is Boxing Day a bank holiday in 2026?
In England and Wales, Boxing Day 2026 falls on a Saturday, so the bank holiday moves to Monday 28 December, according to GOV.UK. Factor it into post-Christmas dispatch and returns processing.
