Elara vs AIUTA: Virtual Try-On Platform or Conversational AI Stylist?

Quick verdict: AIUTA and Elara for Commerce solve different problems, so the right choice depends on where your shoppers get stuck. AIUTA is a fashion-focused virtual try-on platform: shoppers upload a photo and see themselves in a single item or a full outfit, and it also offers AI model imagery for content teams. Elara for Commerce is a conversational AI shopping assistant that greets shoppers, understands the occasion they are shopping for, builds complete outfits from your catalog and includes virtual try-on. Choose AIUTA if visual confidence on the product page is your main gap and you want a low-cost Shopify start. Choose Elara if shoppers arrive unsure what to buy and you want styling, try-on and per-conversation revenue attribution in one place.

Every fashion brand on Shopify is weighing AI tools before peak season. Try-on and styling often come up in the same evaluation, but they answer different shopper questions. "How will this look on me?" is a try-on question. "What should I wear to my friend's winter wedding, and what goes with it?" is a styling question. This comparison sets out what each product does, based on AIUTA's own website and Shopify App Store listing as of October 2026, so you can decide which question your store most needs to answer.

What AIUTA is

AIUTA Shopify plans as of October 2026: Basic $19.99 for 20 products and 300 try-ons, Pro $39.99 for 40 products and 600 try-ons, Business $59.99 for 60 products and 1,200 try-ons.

AIUTA describes its product on its homepage as turning "every product asset into personalized shopper experiences and high-performing content." On the Shopify App Store, its app is listed as "Bring fashion to life with Virtual Try-On powered by AI." As of October 2026, its site lists two main areas:

  • Shopper Experience: virtual try-on. AIUTA says shoppers can "try a single item or complete outfit on themselves," upload their own photo and "see themselves in any item in under five seconds." Shoppers can start with one piece and add complementary items to try on a full look.

  • AIUTA Studio: AI-generated fashion models and product imagery from simple product images, for content and merchandising teams.

AIUTA is available as an SDK and API, with iOS, Android and Flutter SDKs listed in its documentation, and as a Shopify app. Its homepage names fashion retailers including ASOS, ABOUT YOU, adidas Originals, Alice + Olivia and Desigual among its customers.

AIUTA pricing (as of October 2026)

On the Shopify App Store, AIUTA lists three plans, billed every 30 days:

  • Basic: $19.99 per month, 20 active products, 300 try-on requests.

  • Pro: $39.99 per month, 40 active products, 600 try-on requests.

  • Business: $59.99 per month, 60 active products, 1,200 try-on requests.

Additional try-ons cost $9.99 per 100 requests, and the Basic plan shows a 3-day free trial. The listing launched on 11 April 2025 and showed no reviews yet when we checked. Enterprise SDK and API pricing is not published; AIUTA's site directs larger brands to contact sales.

What Elara for Commerce is

Elara for Commerce is an AI shopping assistant built for fashion brands on Shopify, and it also works headless. It engages shoppers proactively, holds a styling conversation about what they need and the occasion they are dressing for, and builds complete outfits from your live catalog. Shoppers can virtually try on looks, and Playground gives them a visual way to put outfits together.

For the brand, the catalog syncs automatically, revenue is attributed per styling conversation, and the merchant portal shows occasion insights, meaning what your shoppers are actually shopping for. Elara integrates with Klaviyo and Ometria. Pricing starts at $399 per month, which includes 3,000 queries and 500 try-ons, with a 30-day free trial, no contracts, and higher tiers available.

Feature by feature

Feature matrix comparing Elara and AIUTA as of October 2026, based on each company's own materials.

Starting the conversation

AIUTA's site does not describe proactive engagement or chat; the shopper starts by choosing a product and uploading a photo. Elara greets shoppers and opens a styling conversation.

Occasion and intent

AIUTA's pages do not mention occasion-based input. Elara is built around it: a shopper can describe an event, a dress code or a weather problem, and Elara responds with suggestions from your catalog.

Complete looks

AIUTA lets shoppers add complementary items to build and try on a full look, but its site does not say whether its system selects those items or the shopper does. Elara builds complete outfits itself from the catalog, based on the conversation.

Virtual try-on

This is AIUTA's core strength. Its site promises results "in under five seconds," for single items or complete outfits, and its Shopify listing adds "Fit Optimization that adapts clothing visuals to different body types." Note that the full-outfit try-on claim appears on AIUTA's main site; the Shopify listing describes try-on in general terms, so confirm outfit try-on is included in the Shopify plan you choose. Elara also includes virtual try-on, so shoppers can try on the complete looks it builds, with 500 try-ons in its starting plan.

Content creation

AIUTA Studio generates AI model imagery and product shots, which is useful for brands that need more visual content. Elara does not position itself as a content studio.

Measurement and integrations

AIUTA's documentation lists analytics events and errors for its SDK; its pages do not mention holdout testing, revenue attribution or email integrations. Elara attributes revenue per styling conversation, shows occasion insights in its merchant portal and integrates with Klaviyo and Ometria.

Platforms

AIUTA offers native iOS, Android and Flutter SDKs for brand apps, plus an API and a Shopify app; its documentation lists the web SDK as coming soon. Elara is a Shopify widget and SDK that also works on headless storefronts.

Choose AIUTA if...

  • Your biggest problem is shoppers who like a product but cannot picture it on themselves.

  • You run a native mobile app and want try-on inside it, using iOS, Android or Flutter SDKs.

  • You need AI model and product imagery as well as try-on.

  • You want to test try-on cheaply on a small number of products; Shopify plans start at $19.99 per month for 20 products.

Choose Elara if...

  • Your shoppers arrive with an occasion in mind but no product, and leave because they cannot decide.

  • You want complete outfits built from your catalog, not just single-item visuals.

  • You want styling, virtual try-on and per-conversation revenue attribution in one tool.

  • You use Klaviyo or Ometria and want styling data alongside your email programme.

  • You are selling a broad catalog, where choosing what goes together is the real friction.

Verdict

There is no single winner, because these are different tools. AIUTA is a strong, fashion-specific try-on and imagery platform that names well-known fashion retailers among its customers, with a very low-cost Shopify entry point. Elara is a styling assistant that leads the shopper from "I need something for Saturday" to a complete, tried-on outfit. Some brands may reasonably use a dedicated try-on tool and a styling assistant at different points in the journey. If you have to choose one before peak season, decide which question your shoppers ask most: "How will this look on me?" or "What should I buy?"

As industry benchmarks, AI shopping assistants are associated with a 4x conversion rate (Neuwark 2026) and 25% higher average order value (Rep AI 2025). These are not results for either product.
