Measurement
Revenue Per Visitor (RPV)
Revenue per visitor (RPV) is total revenue divided by total visitors — a composite metric that combines conversion rate and average order value into a single number that measures the overall revenue efficiency of a session.
What this means
RPV is mathematically equivalent to conversion rate multiplied by AOV. Its value as a metric is that it captures the net effect of both levers together, which matters because a change that improves one can sometimes come at the expense of the other — a promotion might increase conversion rate while lowering AOV, for example. Because RPV nets out this tradeoff, it's often the preferred top-line metric for evaluating whether a specific intervention — a new feature, a redesigned page, an AI stylist — actually improved overall revenue efficiency, rather than just moving one sub-metric.
Why it matters for fashion brands
RPV is the most useful single metric for evaluating an AI shopping tool because it combines both dimensions of commercial impact (how many shoppers buy, and how much they spend when they do). A tool that converts more shoppers at lower AOV may show the same RPV as one that converts fewer shoppers at higher AOV.
